MISSION

Disrupting poverty through green career training and community education.

VISION

Trained individuals earning living wages in the solar industry, while ensuring safe system installations, reduced costs, and increased consumer confidence and product demand for solar energy.

OUR HISTORY

In Spring 2016, GCD founders saw the film “Catching the Sun” and were inspired to provide solar installation training in southern Dallas, which suffers higher rates of poverty and unemployment. With persistent and lingering evidence of redlining in Black communities, every US city has concentrated pockets of poverty created by past racist policies. GCD bridges the gap between solar contractors need for installers and qualified residents living in historically underserved neighborhoods, thereby making accessible a pathway of advancement in the rapidly growing solar industry.

VALUES

In everything we do, we will conduct ourselves with humility, quality, perseverance, connection, and honor.

  • HUMILITY

Listening to and connecting with the community allows GCD to create the best programs possible. Their passion for clean energy motivates and inspires GCD activities.

  • CONSERVATION

Climate change is considered by most world leaders to be the most dangerous threat humanity has ever encountered. GCD is committed to fostering sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyles.

  • TRANSPARENCY

GCD understands the importance of being honest with the community. We are incredibly grateful for the trust and loyalty community members have shown us over the years.

  • ACCOUNTABILITY

We hold ourselves and our program to an incredibly high standard. GCD will continue to acknowledge and advocate for the disenfranchised residents of Dallas.

  • PERSERVERANCE

Second chances are hard to come by, but GCD is determined to make an impact in the lives of others regardless of where they come from or what they have been through. We will make sure they have an equitable opportunity to find success.
